Ephemerium Sneak Peek: "Other" Egypt


The new Egypt level being added to the game is by far the largest set piece I've built in the game. Whereas most areas are limited to single rooms with the exception of the Achaemenid Desert, the Egypt level, is composed of several large areas, environmental puzzles and several boss fights. In today's sneak peek, you can catch a glimpse of an area that follows after clearing the first boss encounter in the area. Mousey will be lost inside the Temple of the God of the Underworld himself, Anubis. 

Those who have played the base version of Ephemerium: Unreality will notice that Mousey's combat stance has been removed. In that version, the combat stance also served a double purpose to allow Mousey to light dark areas. In Redux, Mousey will be able to use her torch ability by simply holding the Fire button. To remain in-theme with Mousey, I also changed the color of the flame to pink. In our design discussion, it was suggested that perhaps the flame itself could also be made to look heart shaped, but sadly that is beyond my artistic ability to make in such a way that would look good.
